Theater PLAY LAB est un cours dirigé et participatif où la mise en jeu du corps et de l’esprit occupe une place centrale. Il vise à mobiliser l’expression de ses participant.e.s et créer des propositions scéniques partageables à un public.

Le LAB est un émulateur et un récipient des créativités de ses participant.e.s et de son intervenant.e. Il offre un terrain de jeu et une mise en commun des regards/compétences. Son esprit est le suivi de la trace intime du joyeux et le sérieux des enfants qui s’amusent.

Le LAB travaille autour des principes et questions suivantes :

- disponibilité et tension créative : comment créer un certain état de disponibilité, de surgissement et de bouillonnement créatif ? comment se mettre dans un état de corps et d’esprit qui « tremble et fait pour nous » ?

- non-jugement : chacun.e est traversé.e par les mystères – personnages, situations, histoires, etc. – qui l’habitent. Aussi, comment tout accueillir, tout prendre, sans restreindre ou imposer son opinion ?

- plaisir : comment viser le plaisir du travail bien fait et la sensation d’avoir accompli quelque chose d’important ?

- exploration : comment inviter à l’aventure, au risque, à la générosité, à la curiosité et au désir de se plonger dans l’inconnu ?

- exigence et souplesse : comment trouver un équilibre entre son goût pour une expression juste et puissante sans tomber dans l’autocensure ou l’autocritique permanente ? Comment ne pas se durcir ?

 

Le LAB est destiné à un public adulte (18+), professionnel ou non des arts vivants.

Le LAB se veut inclusif de toutes nationalités, identités, genres, âges, milieux sociaux et situations de handicaps.

Pour y participer, seuls comptent le désir, l’ouverture et l’acceptation du cadre. Le credo du/de la participant.e pourrait être : « je viens parce que je désire voir ».

Le LAB convient aux personnes francophones et anglosaxonnes : il demande une connaissance liminale d’au moins une de ces langues.

La jauge visée est de 4-8 participant.e.s. 

 

La liberté d’expression demande un cadre où chacun.e se sent en confiance, en capacité de poser ses limites et de respecter celles des autres.

Pour cela, le LAB place le consentement au cœur de sa pratique. Chaque participant.e est invité.e à prêter une attention particulière à soi, à l’autre et au groupe. En général, il s’agit pour chacun.e de rester attentif.ve aux questions : « est-ce que c’est juste pour moi d’être ici et maintenant ? » ; « que puis-je faire pour aller vers mes besoins/envies ? » ; « quels sont mes limites ? ».

 

Le contenu du LAB varie selon l'intervenant.e, sa pratique et sa sensation du groupe. Souvent, le cours poursuit une thématique pendant quelques semaines/mois avant de passer à autre chose. Les propositions peuvent trouver leur source dans un énoncé, une situation, quelques répliques, un poème, une citation, une chanson, un désir de prise de parole publique, une scène de film/théâtre, un personnage, etc. La proposition peut être individuelle ou collective.

 

Sur une période de 2 heures, le cours s’apparente à :

- 5 min : première mise dans le corps et l'espace

- 5 min : introduction et météos individuelles

- 30 min : exercices de connexion à soi et aux autres (corps/voix)

- 60 min : travail sur une proposition individuelle ou collective

- 15 min : présentation

- 5 min : clôture

François Badoud est comédien, auteur, metteur en scène et réalisateur de fictions radiophoniques. Né en 1984 en Suisse, il vit et travaille à Bruxelles.

Sa pratique traverse les formes — dramaturgie, écriture, voix, son, corps, visuel. Elle vise la construction d'artifices à même de déstabiliser nos postures et de nous emmener au-delà du visible. Il explore les plans affectifs, mémoriels, archaïques et épidermiques de l'humain, dans des créations marquées par la cruauté que nous faisons peser sur celles et ceux qui nous renvoient leur souffrance.

Ainsi, Descendre, son premier projet mêle la fiction à des faits et témoignages de l'histoire des placements d'enfants et internements administratifs d’adultes, en Suisse,jusqu'en 1981. Lauréat de l’Aide à la Création ARTCENA (2022) et publié aux Oiseaux de Nuit (2021), le texte donne lieu à une fiction radiophonique (Grand Prix Nova et UK International Radio Drama Festival, 2024) et à une mise en scène (Riches-Claires, 2023).

Comme comédien, François Badoud cherche l’Autre par l’action sèche et nue, lâchéesur le fil du ressenti. Formé à ARTS2, il a approfondi sa pratique à la FilmakademieBaden-Württemberg, ainsi qu’auprès de Yoshi Oïda, Jean-Yves Ruf et Marie-José Malis. Au théâtre, il travaille avec Claudia Bruno, Camille Raséra, Pascal Crochet,Julien Pochon, Latifa Djerbi et Isabelle Pousseur Au cinéma, il joue dans Kika d'Alexe Poukine (Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2025), Het Grote Offensief de Victor D. Ponten, des longs-métrages de Benoît Mariage et Diego Peretti, la série GR5 de Jan Matthys et plusieurs courts-métrages.

Actuellement, il travaille sur Elle se lève, une épopée radiophonique et théâtrale, accueillie en résidence au Quartier Culturel de Malévoz (Suisse, 2026), avec le soutien de la Bourse du Valais — produite par entrelacs asbl, un collectif d’artistes qu'il a cofondé en 2022.

Theater PLAY LAB is a guided, participatory course that focuses on engaging the body and mind. It aims to encourage participants to express themselves and create theatrical performances that can be shared with an audience.

The LAB is an emulator and a receptacle for the creativity of its participants and facilitator. It offers a playground and a space for sharing perspectives and skills. Its spirit is inspired by the joy and seriousness of children at play.

The LAB works around the following principles and questions:

- availability and creative tension: how can we create a certain state of availability, emergence, and creative effervescence? How can we put ourselves in a state of body and mind that “trembles and works for us”?

- non-judgment: everyone is permeated by the mysteries—characters, situations, stories, etc.—that inhabit them. So how can we welcome and accept everything without restricting or imposing our opinions?

- pleasure: how can we aim for the pleasure of a job well done and the feeling of having accomplished something important?

- Exploration: how can we encourage adventure, risk-taking, generosity, curiosity, and the desire to dive into the unknown?

- Demanding yet flexible: how can we strike a balance between our desire for accurate and powerful expression without falling into self-censorship or constant self-criticism? How can we avoid becoming hardened?

 

The LAB is intended for an adult audience (18+), whether or not they are professionals in the performing arts.

The LAB aims to be inclusive of all nationalities, identities, genders, ages, social backgrounds, and disabilities.

To participate, all that matters is desire, openness, and acceptance of the framework. The participant's credo could be: “I come because I want to see.”

The LAB is suitable for French-speaking and English-speaking people: it requires a basic knowledge of at least one of these languages.

The target number of participants is 5 to 10.

 

Freedom of expression requires a framework in which everyone feels confident, able to set their own boundaries and respect those of others.

To this end, the LAB places consent at the heart of its practice. Each participant is invited to pay particular attention to themselves, others, and the group. In general, this means that everyone should remain attentive to the questions: “Is it right for me to be here and now?”; “What can I do to meet my needs/desires?”; “What are my limits?”

 

The content of the LAB varies depending on the instructor, their practice, and their sense of the group. Often, the class explores a theme for a few weeks or months before moving on to something else. The prompts may be inspired by a statement, a situation, a few lines of dialogue, a poem, a quote, a song, a desire to speak in public, a scene from a movie or play, a character, etc. The prompt can be individual or collective.

Over a 2-hour period, the class typically follows this structure:
- 5 min: initial body and space awareness
- 5 min: introduction and individual check-ins
- 30 min: exercises to connect with oneself and others (body/voice)
- 60 min: work on an individual or collective prompt
- 15 min: presentation
- 5 min: closing

François Badoud is an actor, writer, director, and producer of radio dramas. Born in 1984 in Switzerland, he lives and works in Brussels.
His practice spans various forms—dramaturgy, writing, voice, sound, body, and the visual. It aims to construct devices capable of unsettling our perspectives and taking us beyond the visible. He explores the emotional, memorial, archaic, and visceral dimensions of the human condition in works marked by the cruelty we inflict upon those who reflect our suffering back to us.
Thus, Descendre, his first project, blends fiction with facts and testimonies from the history of child placements and administrative internments of adults in Switzerland up until 1981. Winner of the ARTCENA Creation Grant (2022) and published by Les Oiseaux de Nuit (2021), the text has been adapted into a radio drama (Grand Prix Nova and UK International Radio Drama Festival, 2024) and a stage production (Riches-Claires, 2023).
As an actor, François Badoud seeks the Other through raw, unadorned action, guided by instinct. Trained at ARTS2, he further developed his craft at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, as well as under Yoshi Oïda, Jean-Yves Ruf, and Marie-José Malis. In theater, he works with Claudia Bruno, Camille Raséra, Pascal Crochet, Julien Pochon, Latifa Djerbi, and Isabelle Pousseur. In film, he stars in Kika by Alexe Poukine (Critics’ Week, Cannes 2025), Victor D. Ponten’s *Het Grote Offensief*, feature films by Benoît Mariage and Diego Peretti, Jan Matthys’s series *GR5*, and several short films.
He is currently working on Elle se lève, a radio and theater epic, hosted in residence at the Quartier Culturel de Malévoz (Switzerland, 2026), with support from the Bourse du Valais—produced by entrelacs asbl, an artists’ collective he co-founded in 2022.
